« The Romanesque
Cathedral : architecture, spaces, circulations ».
During five days, the“Journées Romanes”, with lectures, projections, visits, will make you discover the Romanesque Cathedral.
Into the ecclesiastical center of the diocese, thebishop and his numerous clergy, are creating a rich liturgy, music and chantsneeding an architectural space according to this prestigious fonction.
The spaces and buildings combination into and around the cathedral involve new
constructions in Catalonia and in the west of France, in Provence and near thePyrenees mountains.
The italian cathedrals, in the middle of antic cities, areparticulary important; in Germany and in England cathedrals have unknownoriginal characteristics.
The visit of Agde and Maguelonne, in which apaleochristian basilic has been found, and the visit of Elne will be a kind of
field works, beside theoric sessions performed by lecturers from all European
countries.

FESTIVAL PABLO CASALS 2012
From July 26 to August 13
The Pablo Casals Festival of Prades was born
in 1950 thanks to the commitment of the Catalan cellist Pablo Casals. Exiled in Prades, this
exceptional artist has gathered around him the greatest musicians of his time
(Clara Haskil, Mieczyslaw Horszowski, Rudolf Serkin, Alexander Schneider, Isaac
Stern, Joseph Szigeti, Yehudi Menuhin ...). In the breathtaking surroundings of
the Pyrenees, the Pablo Casals Festival has become the meeting place for
chamber music.
From July
the 26th to August the 13th 2012, discover or
rediscover the greatest masterpieces of chamber music: Bach, Messiaen,
Schubert, Dvořák,
Debussy (the great French composer of whom we celebrate the 150th
anniversary of his birth) and many others. The concerts take place mainly at the Abbey of St
Michel Cuxà but also in the churches and priories of the Conflent.
Prices range from 7 to 35
euros.

OPERA MOSSET 2012
From July 24 to August 5
Every summer, Opéra Mosset offers aproduction based on a popular opera.
Its choir made of local non-professionalsingers helped by professional soloists and musicians from everywhere in Europesustains the projects.
To celebrate properly its tenth anniversary, Opéra Mosset invites us to a (new) discovery of La
Belle Hélène, a spinning, caustic opera
bouffe in which Offenbach teases Greek mythology and thumbs his nose at the
Second Empire high society.

As every year since 1968, the Universitat Catalana d'Estiu
(Catalan Summer University) organizes its conference and activities in Prades
for the second half of August. The University receives over a thousand persons
(students, teachers, young and old, all age groups) at Charles Renouvier Lycée
to attend courses, seminars, meetings or recreational level, workshops,
lectures, debates, films, concerts...

NITS DE CANCO I DE MUSICA 2012
In August and September
The international festival of young contemporary artistic
expression in Catalan Country, Nits de Canço i de Musica, created and organized
by Boris Vian Fond'action in Eus, is going to make swing. The shows celabrate
the creative and innovative spiritit of Boris Vian, relating to very diverse
artistic domains : music, song, dance, theater, poetry, literature and
performances.

Celebrates the summer solstice. During the night of June
23th a fire is lit at the top of Canigou, it is the ignition signal fires in
every village. The bouquet of St John hung on the doors of houses attracts luck
and happiness in the house
